Duif's Place:
International Directory of Chess Teachers
Alphabetical Listings

Listings by location and specialty are available on the Directory Page. There is also a Summary Showing All Teachers with Name, Location, and Language.

This project is in memory of International Master Boris Kogan.

Information in the directory is free to both teachers and students. Teachers are listed by location (including online and e-mail lessons), by specialty (learning disabled children, team coaching, openings, languages in which lessons are given, etc.), and alphabetically by last name. Duif's Place also includes a chess page for kids, and one for parents of young players.

Additional Comments from the Teacher
To be an excellent teacher, one has to have both an overall "system" for understanding and playing chess and have the ability to explain that system in terms that a less knowledgeable player can understand. My system in tactics alone helped propel my rating from 1813 to 2225 in 6 months. And I take pride in my ability to explain chess in simple terms that even novices can understand.

I have been teaching chess for the past 2 years at Nanyang JC , a junior college in Singapore. I teach for free through email/phone. However , I would charge a small fee if providing personal coaching at the student's home.

Additional Comments from the Teacher
I am a very experienced player and am the current Australian correspondence champion, and have had a FIDE rating 2310-2365 over the past 5 years. I have had many enjoyable coaching seesions with players of varying backgrounds since 1983, some of whom are now coaches themselves. I use a variety of methods and adjust them to the student's needs, and have put a lot into researching how chess can be effectively taught and learnt.

My handle on Fics is "Intuition". Read my web pages for more information plus some chess articles.
