Team Standings at the end of Round 3
#30 China defeated #3 Hungary 3-1 as both Judit Polgar and Portisch lost games this round. The Hungarian team has an average rating of 2642; the Chinese team has an average rating of 2517, so this is quite an upset.
The US team (average 2595) also suffered an upset when they lost 1.5-2.5 to Uzebekistan, a team not even in the top 30 of those competing.
The Netherlands had another strong round with a 3.5-0.5 victory over Italy, and five of the teams from the lower ranks had perfect scores: ------------------------ ------------------ The Czech. Republic, Estonia, Iran, Moldova, Thailand, and Zimbabwe.
Cuba, the #25 ranked team, scored 3.5 against Scotland to rocket it into 2nd place.
